Tom is a longtime resident of Wisconsin. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at UW-Oshkosh in 2016. After dabbling in atmospheric chemistry and pharmaceutical chemistry in the Madison area, Tom earned a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from UW-Madison in 2020. Still hungry to learn more about education, Tom completed a second Master’s in Chemistry Education from UW-Madison in 2022, where he had the opportunity to co-develop the ChemLEAP high school chemistry curriculum.

While pursuing his degrees, Tom has been both a teaching assistant and faculty assistant in the chemistry department for almost six years. In that time, he has helped educate and mentor countless students and teaching assistants in chemistry, which earned him an Outstanding Chemistry Teaching Award in 2019.

Outside of the classroom, Tom spends time at home with his wife Lariisa and Emil, their feline son who enjoys eating anything and everything. Tom enjoys video games, Garfield, and bad jokes.
